RE:    Ultraply®

Introduction:

A sample of Ultraply® was submitted for evaluation as a substrate for tile using Bonsil’s thin sets. Mosaic and Quarry to Ultraply® shear bond specimens were prepared with Bonsil’s Multipurpose Thin Set. The specimens were air cured 7 days prior to testing. Five sets were tested using both sides of Ultraply® with grain vertical and horizontal.

Conclusion:

Bonsil’s Multipurpose Thin Set bonded to Ultraply® meets or exceeds

ANSI 118.4 shear bond requirements. There was not a significant difference in bond strength using one side of Ultraply® over the other, nor did the grain make a difference.
